The City of Kingston is currently considering improvements to John Machin Sports Fields Park that include: an artificial turf soccer field with sports lighting, a permanent park washroom building, and provisions for a potential future seasonal air-supported dome for indoor sports.

13.5 hectares in size, John Machin Sports Fields Park is located at Innovation Drive and Highway 15. City residents are invited to discuss these improvement proposals at a meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the Little Theatre room at La Salle Secondary School, 773 Highway 15.

“John Machin Park has enjoyed a number of recent and popular upgrades. We are looking to add on to these and are calling on residents to help us define their sports park needs.” said the Manager of Parks Development, Neal Unsworth,  according to a city release.

John Machin Sports Fields Park currently has two newly constructed international regulation-sized soccer fields as well as a variety of sports fields that allow the City to accommodate users of all ages.

John Machin Sports Fields Park is also connected to the four kilometre Greenwood Park trail and has a newly paved parking lot and access road.
