Andy Singh of Inverary has won $100,000 after matching the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the April 8, 2025 LOTTO MAX draw.
Singh, 49, has been playing the lottery with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for 25 years. A weekly participant, he regularly plays a number of OLG lotteries, using the Quick Pick feature and consistently adding ENCORE to his tickets. This is his first major lottery win.
“I went to the gas station to pump gas and purchased a ticket while I was there. That’s become a routine for me — buying a ticket when I go for gas,” he said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings.
Approximately one month after purchasing the ticket, Singh brought several tickets from his car to a store to be checked. “I went to the ticket checker and scanned them one by one,” he recalled. “When I scanned this one and saw the prize amount on the screen, I was in disbelief! I was so shocked and excited.”
He then took the ticket to the cashier for validation. “They scanned it, and the lottery terminal froze,” he said.
After returning home, Singh placed the ticket on the kitchen island. “My wife had just cleaned the counter and moved it, saying, ‘Why are you keeping it there? I just cleaned it!’ Just then, I flipped the ticket over to reveal the validation slip confirming I had won. She was very happy and a bit stunned,” he said. “We haven’t told anyone else about this win until today.”
Singh plans to use the winnings to pay off bills, make investments, take a vacation, and purchase a special gift for his wife. “Being a winner feels unbelievable,” he said. “You feel like jumping from all the excitement!”
ENCORE can be played with most lottery games for an additional $1 and offers 22 ways to win, with two draws daily.
The winning ticket was purchased at Nations Finest Convenience/Esso on Old Highway 2 in Shannonville.
