The YMCA of Eastern Ontario has announced the successful conclusion of its “Ignite the Spark” fundraising campaign, surpassing its $432,000 goal by raising a total of $498,888.
Rob Adams, CEO of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, expressed appreciation for the widespread support the campaign received. “We are humbled by the belief that supporters have shown in our mission to help everyone reach their potentials and the trust people have in the Y to deliver on this ideal,” he said. “As part of our purpose, we believe that no one should be left behind and each year our neighbours and friends help us to provide access to healthy, positive programming. Being a welcoming environment for all is something we take very seriously.”
In 2024, the contributions made by donors have facilitated financial assistance for 2,670 members and subsidized campers for 278 weeks of summer camps. Donations also provided vital support for at-risk youth, isolated seniors, and families and individuals who would not otherwise have access to YMCA programs.
“On behalf of everyone at the Y, I’d like to thank the many people who make what we do possible, corporate and individual donors alike,” Adams added. “The community has really come together, joining with our board of directors and our staff who also gave to the Y, and we have been privileged to have the support of so many including organizations like McDonald’s in Kingston and Gananoque, the Estate of Larry Gibson, Canarm, St. Lawrence Pools, Burnbrae Farms and others who support our fundraising efforts.”
The YMCA of Eastern Ontario will continue to use the funds raised to fulfill its mission of providing inclusive and accessible programming to all members of the community.
