The Empties for Paws second annual bottle drive is set to take place in Kingston to help a local animal charity, joining communities across the province that are helping more than 65 animal rescues and shelters.

Organizers are asking for donations of empty beer, wine, liquor bottles/cans and Canadian Tire money during their Bottle Drive Blitz on February 25th & 26th.

Locally, Pet Parade Plus is collecting these donations for Land O’Lakes Rescue Petting Farm. Located northwest of Kingston, at 1200 Rd 506 in Cloyne, the farm is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, abused, neglected, and otherwise unwanted animals.

The rescue petting farm provides visiting children with a fun and educational farm experience, with animals that have either been raised from babies or were rescued. Learn more at the Land O’Lakes Rescue Petting Farm website, which features videos that include showing how the rescue helps special needs children and what may be the world’s only hugging turkey.

Animal lovers in the Kingston area can drop off their donation at the following locations:

– Greenhawk Kingston at 112 John Counter Blvd. (behind UPS store). Please take empties in the store and give to staff – this drop off location is only until February 26

- 809 Development Drive – this drop off location is only for February 25-26.

– You can bring pop cans directly to the Kingston Area Recycling Centre @ 196 Lappan’s Lane, Kingston **indicate that it’s for Land O’Lakes Farm*

– People can also drop off empties at the Land O’Lakes Farm itself at 1200 Rd 506 in Cloyne

- Email for pick up: shannon@petparadeplus.com

– Or, if more convenient, cash in your empties and donate the funds directly to Land O’Lakes Rescue Petting Farm.

Since the inception of Empties for Paws in January 2015, communities have made over $56,000 in donations to the campaign. Empties can be donated all year round and not just on February 25-26.
