Kingston Police released the following report earlier today, March 31st:

A 26-year-old local man has been arrested after police discover a cache of stolen bicycle parts at his residence.

On March 29, 2017 police attended a residence on Crest Hill Street while investigating a stolen tablet. Officers recovered the tablet, but also discovered a large stash of stolen bicycle parts in the house and garage.

Detectives investigated and were able to link various bicycle parts to reports of stolen high-end bicycles. Detectives determined the accused had been obtaining stolen bicycles, tearing them down and building “new” bicycles to sell. Some of the bicycles are from recent thefts and some date back to last August.

The accused was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with three counts of possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

Some of the bicycles have since been returned to their owners.
