Canadian Army Reserve to Conduct Training in Kingston

Published on: 2024/01/12 - in News

On January 14, 2024, soldiers from the Canadian Army Reserve will conduct a training exercise in Kingston. The exercise will involve soldiers marching in uniform along roadsides, equipped with their personal weapons, which will remain unloaded throughout the training.

The public may observe groups of up to 30 soldiers, dressed in Canadian Army-issued uniforms and protective gear, practicing various marching formations. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed when passing these formations.

This training is a crucial component of the Canadian Army Reserve’s preparation, enabling soldiers to operate under different weather conditions and maintain their physical fitness and stamina while carrying equipment. Such regular exercises are essential for keeping the military personnel and units in a state of readiness to undertake missions both within Canada, such as responding to floods and wildfires, and internationally, supporting stability operations with partners and allies.

The military is committed to minimizing disruption to local residents and requests the public’s understanding and cooperation, particularly when approaching military vehicles and personnel.
