The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto announced this past Friday that Kingston’s Evangelos Vamvounakis picked up the 6/49 lottery prize he won last August – just about a week before the ticket was to expire.
Vamvounakis won a second prize of $73,050.70 in the August 10, 2019 6/49 draw by matching five numbers plus the bonus number.
In a media release, the OLG noted that winners are wearing face masks as required by the temporary City of Toronto by-law that mandates face masks be worn in indoor public spaces. The Prize Centre in Toronto is now accepting in-person prize claim appointments for winning-ticket holders of $10,000 or more. Appointments for prizes of this value will be granted if requested, however prizes up to $49,999.90 do not have to be claimed in-person and the OLG encourages customers to continue to mail in these claims when possible.
LOTTO 6/49 players in Ontario have won over $13.1 billion in prizes since 1982, including 1,393 jackpot wins and 343 Guaranteed $1 Million Prize draws. LOTTO 6/49 is $3 per play and draws take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
This winning ticket was purchased at Quik Check on Front Road in Kingston.
