Utilities Kingston Releases 2022 Report on Drinking Water Quality

Published on: 2023/02/24 - in News

Utilities Kingston has released the 2022 annual report on drinking water quality, detailing the efforts made to ensure that every Kingston resident has access to safe and clean drinking water. The reports are prepared in response to Ontario Regulation 170 of the Safe Drinking Water Act, which mandates that all municipalities provide comprehensive reports on the quality of their drinking water systems.

Ontario has stringent water quality standards, and Utilities Kingston employees continually meet and exceed these standards to ensure the safety and health of the community. The annual reports outline the various filtration, treatment, monitoring, and backup systems in place to supply high-quality drinking water to every home and business within the urban area of Kingston.

The 2022 reports provide detailed test results for three different water treatment systems: the King St. Water Treatment Plant, the Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant, and the Cana Water Treatment System. The King St. Water Treatment Plant serves the central Kingston area, while the Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant serves the west Kingston region. The Cana Water Treatment System, on the other hand, serves a portion of the Kingston East community.

The reports provide a comprehensive overview of each treatment system, detailing how the systems operate, and the measures in place to ensure optimal water quality.

Copies of the reports are now available, free of charge, from Utilities Kingston at City Hall at 216 Ontario St. and online.
