2017 Conservation Award Recipients Announced

CRCA logoThis year’s Conservation Awards winners have been chosen by the Cataraqui Conservation Foundation (CCF) and will receive the awards during the Forever Green Gala.

The Foundation hosts the Conservation Awards to recognize the individuals, groups, and organizations who contribute to the preservation of the natural environment.

2017 award recipients are as follows:

  • Corporate Award: Utilities Kingston is being recognized for its innovative new technology which provides sewage overflow information on a real-time map to help residents make better informed decisions about recreational water use.
  • Community Award: The Kingston Field Naturalists are being honoured for their role in the preservation of wildlife, natural habitats and the stimulation of people’s interest in nature.
  • Education Award: Matt Saunders, aka ‘The Real Bat Man’ is being lauded for his long-term commitment to educating the public about the importance, as well as the myths and realities of bats.
  • Stewardship Award: Land Conservancy KFLA is being honoured for its role in preserving wild lands in Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Counties, providing vital habitat for diverse plant and animal species.

The 2017 Forever Green Gala will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6pm to 9pm at the Senior Officers’ Mess at Royal Military College in Kingston.
