United Way Recognizes Workplace Volunteers at Awards Luncheon

Published on: 2019/04/18 - in News

The United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington held an awards luncheon yesterday afternoon where workplace volunteers were recognized for making significant positive impacts on our community over the past year.

The organization says workplace campaigns directed by volunteers make up 70 per cent of its campaign dollars raised each year. Wednesday’s event – which took place at the Ramada Kingston Hotel and Conference Centre and sponsored by Bell and Diamond Hotels – also recognize labour groups and local media partners.

“Volunteers are critical to the success of the campaign and we have over 2,000 local volunteers who engage at all levels of the United Way” said Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way KFLA in a release. “We are grateful to everyone who shares their time and talent with the United Way. The support in our community is incredible and this day is an opportunity to honour and recognize some of the volunteers who have helped make a difference in our community”.

The luncheon – hosted by 98.3 FlyFM radio personalities Red & Ben and featuring guest speaker Mayor Bryan Paterson – saw several awards handed out, including Participation Awards, Achievement Awards and the “Voice of Community Award” in memory of Greg Hinton, presented by Bell.
