Join the “Stoma Stroll” Free Family BBQ and Awareness Walk

The Ostomy Canada Society is inviting Kingstonians to come together to enjoy a free family BBQ and awareness walk on Saturday, October 5th.

The local Ostomy support group will be hosting the event at Lake Ontario Park (920 King Street W.) from 11am to 2pm with the Stoma Stroll beginning at noon and BBQ hamburgers & hot dogs served at 1pm.

2019 marks the Ostomy Canada Society’s 7th annual Stoma Stroll nationwide and its 4th year here in Kingston. The non-profit volunteer organization is aiming to raise $35,000 across Canada from this year’s awareness walks.

All proceeds support individuals living with ostomies and their families – helping them live life to the fullest through support, education, collaboration and advocacy.  The local Ostomy support group meet once a month to share stories, offer advice to each others struggles, have guest speakers, and go out for dinner together.  With members ranging in age from 15 to senior citizens, the group has both a public “Kingston Ostomates” Facebook page and a private page for its members.

Visit OstomyCanada.ca for more information about the Ostomy Canada Society. Additional details about the support walk and how to donate can be found at the Stoma Stroll 2019 page.
