Family and Children’s Services reports the Tree of Hope is critically short on teen and adult gifts for this holiday season.
As the campaign begins its final days, the agency is predicting they may face a shortfall of more than 50 gifts for teens 14-17 and adults over 18.
The Christmas appeal – one of the oldest in Southeastern Ontario – helps families served by Family and Children’s Services who are at need at Christmas. The majority of its Tree of Hope gift donations are for younger children, which sometimes results in a challenge to get gifts for teens and parents and caregivers.
There has been a 40 percent increase in the number of adults needing help at Christmas for 2016 and the Tree of Hope is asking for donations of money to help close the gap.
An additional $3000 is required before Christmas to purchase gift cards so the teens and adults can get what they need.
