The City of Kingston invites residents’ input on parking rates and fines at a public open house at 6:30 p.m. on May 24, 2016 at Memorial Hall in City Hall.
The City has engaged BA Group consulting engineers to assist with a review of parking rates and fines to make sure they support its parking management principles.
After initial input is received, a framework will be developed for establishing and maintaining parking rates and fines including recommendations for parking-pricing adjustments and guidelines for:
• hourly, monthly and event rates
• the relationship between on and off-street rates
• establishing maximum stays
• when payment is required
• changes to the parking fine structure
• future rate adjustments to ensure they continue to support the City’s parking management principles
• ways to protect parking for facility users in parks and recreation facilities located within high demand areas
• rates for dedicated parking-space rentals, both on and off-street
The results of the review will be presented to the environment, infrastructure and transportation policies committee this fall. Further opportunity for consultation will be available when the initial recommendations are presented to the committee.
