Sustainable Kingston will hold a day-long Community Forum on our community’s sustainable efforts – moving towards making Kingston Canada’s Most Sustainable City – on Saturday, April 20 at the K-Rock Centre at 1 The Tragically Hip Way (map).
“It’s Sustainable Kingston’s anniversary and it is time for our second annual Community Forum. The search for sustainable solutions continues to build a strong sense of community amongst residents and businesses. This year’s event will focus on further strengthening those ties by continuing our community conversations on how best to achieve our vision of becoming Canada’s most sustainable city,” says Dan Corbett President Sustainable Kingston Corporation.
He says organizers are expecting approximately 300 participants, including individual residents and participants from businesses, organizations and the public sector.
All Kingstonians are invited to participate in the Forum which will feature a keynote address by Gord Hume, one of Canada’s leading voices on Municipal Cultural Planning and Creative Cities. Gord is recognized as an expert advocate for building strong, creative and prosperous communities. He’ll speak about how to do that in his address entitled Community Matters.
The Forum will also highlight the sustainable activities of Sustainable Kingston’s Community Partners with showcase presentations and exhibits of their contributions. Visit sustainablekingston.ca to see the dynamic and growing list of commitments made by Sustainable Kingston’s Community Partners.
Plan to attend one or more of these four workshop discussions on: Youth Engagement; Community Health and Well being; Transportation; and Food Security. Each workshop will provide information on our community’s efforts to date and focus on future goals and priorities.
