Published on: 2013/09/17 - in Featured Releases

The City is again seeking Remarkable Recyclers so that they can be officially recognized for their success at diverting waste from landfill.

“Kingstonians have proven themselves willing and able to divert household waste using the Green Bin and Grey and Blue Boxes.  The Remarkable Recyclers program is about celebrating that success,” says Derek Ochej, Public Education Coordinator for Solid Waste.  More than 70 Remarkable Recyclers were recognized during the spring 2013 campaign.

Households may register for the Remarkable Recycler program by emailing dochej@cityofkingston.ca , or calling Customer Service at 613-546-0000 by Friday, Sept. 27.

Participating households will have their curbside collectibles audited for sorting accuracy the collection weeks of September 30 or October 7. If you have sorted your waste correctly and set out one bag of garbage or less, your household gets new “Remarkable Recycler” Blue and Grey Boxes, and your name is entered in a random draw for a Kobo e-reader.

Participants must live in a residential home with curbside recycling and garbage pick-up.
