Take a free ride on Kingston Transit and Downtown Kingston! this Saturday, November 21.
Ride any Kingston Transit bus on any route (local and express) free all day long – and plan to take free transit to the Nighttime Santa Claus Parade.
This free transit day is a joint initiative of the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area (Downtown Kingston!) and Kingston Transit.
“Taking the free ride to the night-time Santa Claus Parade is a fantastic opportunity to experience the service Kingston Transit offers. Since the launch of the two additional express routes this past May, there is an even greater level of service to and from the downtown area,” says Doug Ritchie of the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area, which organizes the parade.
FREE 15-MINUTE EXPRESS SERVICE ON SATURDAY
The normal Saturday express 30-minute service will be supplemented with additional buses to offer 15-minute service from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This special event express schedule will be available at KingstonTransit.ca.
“With the extra service we’re offering this Saturday, it is the perfect excuse to try a Park and Ride location. Hop on a bus anywhere in the city, and see how quick and easy it is to get exactly where you want to go using public transit,” says Jeremy DaCosta, manager, Kingston Transit.
Park and Ride locations offer free parking and are located at Centre 70 at Front and Days roads, INVISTA Centre at 1350 Gardiners Rd., Kingston Gospel Temple at 2295 Princess St., Montreal Street at Hwy 401, and Innovation Drive east of Hwy. 15. Bus stops are located within a short walking distance of the Park and Ride.
Downtown Kingston!’s annual Nighttime Santa Claus Parade starts at 5 p.m. and runs along Princess Street from Bath Road to Ontario Street. The Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 7:15 p.m. at Springer Market Square.
