The public is invited to the Kingston Humane Society’s annual Open House – located at 1 Binnington Court – between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Sunday June 5th, 2016.
The event will enable the agency to demonstrate all the work and support they provide in caring for injured, sick, homeless and abused animals.
It will include a tour of the shelter every half hour., a Puppy Kissing Booth, Vendors, Animal Photo Shoots, a clinic to microchip pets (by appointment only), as well as an adoption event for cats and kittens.
The latter event will help to lower the number of animals at the shelter during this busiest season when many cats are reproducing and shelters are experiencing a flood of unwanted cats and kittens.
Visitors are asked to take part in the Kitten Shower on Shelter Day, by donating needed items that include: a Kitten Milk Replacer (KMR), Fleece Blankets, Cat Toys, Kitten Bottle Kits, Dish Soap, Paper Towel, Pet Supply Gift Cards, Royal Canin Baby Cat Canned/dry food, and non-clumping litter.
“Shelter Day is the kick off to our Adopt-A-Cat month”, said executive director at the Kingston Humane Society, Connie Ball. “Our adult altered cats are $95, and altered kittens will be available for $135. All animals adopted from the Kingston Humane Society have been health-checked, de-wormed, microchipped and come with 6 weeks of free pet insurance.”
The special cat adoption pricing begins June 3rd and will continue for all of June. Dogs are also available for adoption at regular prices.
The shelter has a number of cats and kittens available for adoption on site, as well as at their satellite adoption centres: Pet Valu – located at Kingston Centre and Gardiners Centre – PetSmart, Global Pet Foods, Urban Paws, and Birds ‘n Paws located at Brock Street & Gore Road.
Animal owners can make an appointment with the shelter if they would like their pet to be permanently identifiable by having them microchipped. Book appointments by calling the shelter at 546-1291. Payment is required at time of booking the appointment and all appointments are non-refundable.
