The City of Kingston, in partnership with the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee, is accepting nominations for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities Access Award.
This award recognizes a person, group or organization that has made or is making a significant contribution towards improving access for persons with disabilities in Kingston.
“All Kingston benefits from the work of those nominated for this annual award. These individuals and organizations make our city more inclusive and welcoming to people of all abilities,” says Julie Salter-Keane, manager, community projects.
The award winner is announced at a ceremony every year on December 3rd – the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Last year’s Access Award winner was Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs.
Nomination forms are available at CityofKingston.ca/accessaward and must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30:

– In-person or by mail to Clerk’s office at City Hall, 216 Ontario St., Kingston, ON, K7L 2Z3 (Attention: International Day of Persons with Disabilities Access Award); or
– By fax to 613-546-1899
Access can include anything that contributes significantly to persons with disabilities living independently and goes beyond legislated requirements.
To be eligible, projects must have been developed from 2013 to the present. Nominees from previous years who were not selected for an award can be nominated in 2015 as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.
