Trade publication Pollstar has announced the current list of Top 20 Global Concert Tours, and Kingston’s own Tragically Hip is ranked as not just one of the top 20, but is in the top 10.
The Hip’s Man Machine Poem tour is #7 on the chart, which ranks artists by average box office gross per city and includes the average ticket price for shows Worldwide.
With an average of $2,526,352, the band beat out Canada’s only other performer on the list – concert powerhouse Justin Bieber, who came in at #8 with $2,263,787.
The Hip also topped such well known acts as Rhianna, Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, and The Dixie Chicks.
Current Top 5 tours include Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Beyonce, Guns N’ Roses, Paul McCartney, and Kenny Chesney.
The list is based on data provided to Pollstar by concert promoters and venue managers.
