Published on: 2016/10/25 - in Entertainment Featured

Tonight, on CBC’s the Mercer Report, Kingston’s own Fort Fright is visited by comedian and political satirist Rick Mercer.

In the episode filmed at Fort Henry, Rick becomes a “scare actor” for the annual Halloween event that features frightening animatronics, special effects, and the living undead.

This is just the most recent episodes to feature a Kingston-themed segment.

The Mercer Report visited Queen’s University – along with The Tragically Hip’s Rob Baker – in 2004, and popped by the University’s Model Parliament with former MP and Speaker of the HoC, Peter Milliken, in 2011.

Rick was also at the Royal Military College in 2004 and more recently took part in the Ontario Tree Climbing Championships in 2013.

Fort Fright is an outdoor and indoor Haunted Attraction where ghosts, ghouls, zombies and more have taken over the fort’s garrison.

Get ready for the interior ditch, dark hallways and tunnels to be filled with live scare actors out to test your goose bumps’ reaction. All new terrifying animatronics and special effects are sure to raise some screams. Try out our Total Scare for the complete experience which includes general admission, a coffin ride, and a Terrifying Tale from the Tunnels led by the Haunted Walk of Kingston.
Scream… or Forever Rest in Pieces

You can learn about Fort Fright, which is open nightly until October 30th, on the Fort Henry website.

Also check out the Kingston Herald article about Fort Fright from 2010 that includes an anaglyph 3D video (which, admittedly, features far too much screaming) and 3D photos .

The Fort Fright episode airs Tuesday, October 25th, on CBC at 8 pm. Also on tonight’s show, Rick helps make a bentwood box and goes out on the water in a Haida war canoe in Haida Gwaii, BC.
