The Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) has announced a series of free festive activities for the month of December, aimed at providing family-friendly fun during the holiday season.
“There’s ‘snow’ place like KFPL this December,” said Brianne Peters, Librarian, Children’s Services. “We believe in the gift of knowledge and are thrilled to offer a generous dose of holiday magic for free. Join us this winter season and discover that the library is where adventures begin, friends are made and memories are created.”
The first event, scheduled for December 2, is titled ‘Pick a Pine Tree.’ Participants will learn about the tradition of tree decorating and create their own pinecone ornament. Registration is required, and all necessary supplies will be provided.
On December 12, the Isabel Turner Branch will host an evening of puppet shows and songs. Starting at 6:30 p.m., families can enjoy puppet performances of ‘Bear Snores on’ and ‘Ask Mr. Polar Bear.’ This event is a drop-in session, requiring no prior registration.
For children aged six and older, the Pittsburgh Branch will hold a winter watercolor painting session on December 16. This artistic activity requires registration, and all painting materials will be supplied.
Inclusive of the youngest library patrons, the ‘Jingle Bell Babies’ event is set for December 20 at the Calvin Park Branch. Aimed at newborns and pre-walkers, it will feature stories, songs, and rhymes for parents and caregivers to enjoy with their infants. Registration is required for this event.
The library’s December activities will conclude with Festive Family Storytime on December 23 at both the Isabel Turner and Calvin Park Branches. This drop-in event invites families to gather and listen to heartwarming holiday stories.
