An article in Friday’s edition of The Washington Times is full of praise for Kingston’s The Glorious Sons, calling the band “Canada’s Best Export”.
The Op-Ed speaks of the group’s formation in 2011 and developing a following here in Kingston, then goes on to compare The Sons’ path to success – specifically, recording an EP on their own and pitching the song “Moma” to local Canadian rock stations – to similar early efforts by music legends Bon Jovi and Rick Ocasek of The Cars.
When people started hearing “Mama” on the radio, writes Tim Constantine, they wanted to see the band live – and once people saw the band live, they wanted even more.
“We knew we just had to play shows and we could turn heads that way,” frontman Brett Emmons told the Times. “To be honest, we were very lucky that Canadian radio jumped on our first single and played it. They played it to death.”
The Sons’ new album, “A War on Everything” – produced by Frederik Thaae and recorded at North of Princess studios here in Kingston – is described as covering the full gamut of emotion & experience and a success both lyrically & musically. Constantine predicts the record is on track for commercial success as well, with its first track ‘Panic Attack’ holding the #1 spot on Billboard’s Canada Rock chart for the 10th consecutive week (and continuing to climb the Active Rock chart in the U.S. as well, where ‘Panic Attack’ is now #4).
The article proclaiming the band “Canada’s Best Export” comes as The Glorious Sons played a massive, 14,000 seat sold-out hometown concert at Richardson Stadium (Tweet photo: SkEye Stream) and today’s announcement of the band’s 2020 “A War On Everything” North American tour that launches after The Sons return from Europe.

They will be joined by special guests Des Rocs for the U.S. dates and Black Pistol Fire at their Canadian shows.
