Warner Brothers has issued the first trailer for its upcoming Yogi Bear 3D feature film starring Kingston area resident Dan Aykroyd and Queen’s University alumn Tom Cavanagh.
In the movie, Aykroyd takes on the title role as the voice of Yogi Bear with Cavanagh playing Ranger Smith beside the computer generated bears.
According to a studio release:
Jellystone Park has been losing business so greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors — and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they’ve ever known.
Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is “smarter than the average bear” as he and Boo Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.
So they decide to team up with their nemesis Ranger Smith in an effort to save the park.
The original Hanna-Barbera cartoon started back in 1961 and has been a favorite of children for decades, still airing on televisions around the globe
Along with the original Saturday Night Live cast member and movie star Dan Aykroyd and actor Tom Cavanagh – who played the title role as TV’s “Ed”, and more recently known as Dan Dorian, J.D’s big brother in the sitcom “Scrubs” – is Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo, comedienne Anna Faris playing a documentary film maker who travels to Jellystone Park to film a project, and TJ Miller who submitted an audition tape for the role of Ranger Jones that is alternatively hilarious and hair-raising.
The film is set to be released in the U.S. on December 17. The trailer (below) was released through Yahoo and introduced by Dan Aykroyd.
