Dan Aykroyd on Workin' Moms

Dan Aykroyd will guest star tonight on an episode of CBC’s “Workin’ Moms” playing Wayne Hoffman, the father of character Kate Hoffman (Catherine Reitman).

This will place Aykroyd in the fictional role of his friend and Catherine’s real father, Ivan Reitman, who directed Dan in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II and collaborated on the reboot released last year.

Aykroyd’s segment for the episode, titled Phoenix Rising, is described in that show’s logline:

Kate (Reitman) joins her team at Gaze on a Saturday to work on a pitch, promising Nathan (Philip Sternberg) she’ll be home in time for family dinner with their parents. When the camaraderie and joking get out of hand, it’s up to Kate to rein things in. With her family balance in jeopardy, she rushes to leave the office. On her way out, she learns there’s been a decision on the Montreal job, and can think of no better counsel on the matter than her own dad (Aykroyd).

A former member of The Groundlings comedy troupe in Los Angeles, Catherine has appeared in the films Knocked Up (2007) and I Love You, Man (2009). She has a sister, Caroline Reitman, and a brother, Jason Reitman, who directed the award winning Juno (2007).

Catherine Reitman writes, directs and stars in Workin’ Moms, described as being about four young women in a judgmental mommies group who form an unlikely friendship.

Workin’ Moms airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on CBC.

The comedy, executive produced by Reitman and Philip Sternberg, is distributed internationally by Coldsprings Media LLC and represented by Vanguarde Artist Management and CAA, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
