The Melos Choir and Period Instruments will present a concert titled “Light in the Dark II – From Europe to Persia, 6th – 19th c.” on Friday, December 13 at St. George’s Cathedral in Kingston. The event, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., will feature guest artists including Sadaf Amini on the Iranian santur, Vagho Adamyan on the duduk, members of the Navaa Ensemble, and baritone David Roth.

The repertoire will include Advent chants, traditional Arabic and Hebrew songs from the Levant, and Persian love songs in celebration of Yalda. Additionally, the evening will feature Christmas music from Europe and Armenia, with works by Gibbons, Bach, and Arakelian. These pieces will be presented with cross-cultural interpretations of ancient musical traditions.

The concert is supported by the City of Kingston Arts Council, along with contributions from individual donors and corporate sponsors. Educational outreach and collaborative efforts associated with the event are funded by the Cataraqui Kingston Rotary Club.
