Orchestra Kingston has announced “The Art of the Soloist” – dedicated to Alan Grant (1940-2019), a founding member of Orchestra Kingston, which began as chamber music in his home – will be presented at The Spire, 92 Sydenham Street, on Sunday March 1 at 2:30pm.

Performing that afternoon are Cory Van Allen (Saint-Saens’ ‘Morceau de Concert’ for French horn), Inka Brockhausen (Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ for piano), Jonathan Moellman (Kabalevsky’s ‘Concerto for Violin’), and Colleen Renihan (presenting Mussorgsky’s ‘Night on Bald Mountain’).

Bonus selections include Beethoven’s ‘Egmont Overture’ and Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel and Gretal’.

“Usually you get just one soloist in an orchestral show, but Orchestra Kingston’s ‘Art of the Soloist’will feature four artists,” said music director John Palmer, adding that the artists will perform music filled with a wide variety of musical stories about life, passion, and human drama.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 – $20 for students & seniors and free for 16 and under – at Novel Idea, Tara Natural Foods, Arden’s Music, orchestra members, and the Orchestra Kingston tickets page.
