Thanks to Kingston’s first “Step-On/Step-Off” Tour Trolley Service, residents and tourists to the city will have another way to get to the Agnes Etherington Art Centre on Queen’s University campus this summer .

Operated by Tourism Kingston and the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce, the new tour trolley offers optional drop-off & pick-up locations throughout the city that also includes Fort Henry National Historic Site, Bellevue House National Historic Museum, and Canada’s Penitentiary Museum.  Trolley riders can disembark to explore a specific location and then board the trolley again to continue on the tour.

“It’s a pleasure to see this service become a reality,” said Art Centre Director, Janet Brooke. “Tourists and residents now have a wonderful opportunity to combine their exploration of the city’s history with visits to several cultural sites including the Art Centre.”

Michael Chan, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, participated in the inaugural tour on Tuesday, June 19 along with Kingston and the Islands MPP John Gerretsen. Minister Chan later posted a photo to his Twitter feed (pictured right), captioned:

Janet Brooke and Tom Harris, Vice-Principal (Advancement), welcomed the delegation to the Art Centre (pictured top) where Pat Sullivan, Art Centre Public Programs Officer, toured the group through the Art Centre’s exhibitions.

Tickets for the Tour Trolley service are available for purchase at the Kingston Visitor Information Centre across from City Hall or online.
