RELEASE — Tune in to Kingston’s re-emerging music scene with the 2022 YGK Music playlists, which feature 30 tracks created by local musicians. YGK Music is an annual program designed to promote local music and musicians through curated playlists.
The two playlists include Kingston Sounds, which showcases the strength and diversity of the local music scene, and Music on Hold, which offers a taste of instrumental music through the City’s call waiting system.

The program has increased exposure for over 130 local artists since it launched as a pilot project in September 2019. “The YGK Music playlists provide an opportunity for our community to learn about and celebrate the breadth of talented musicians in our city,” says Danika Lochhead, manager, arts & sector development.
YGK Music 2022 received 68 submissions through an open call process. Submissions were reviewed by a local music working group, consisting of musicians and industry professionals from Kingston. Submissions were assessed on artistic merit, artistic practice, diversity, and content.
