Queen’s University to Host Expanded 2018 Futsal Canadian Championship

Canada Soccer has announced this year’s Futsal Canadian Championship taking place at Queen’s University will feature an expanded list of eight teams from five provinces and two territories.

The 2017 Championship featured teams from Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec. They will be joined this year by Nunavut, Yukon, Alberta, and Manitoba teams along with a second entrant from Quebec.

“Futsal has grown tremendously in Canada over the past number of years, and we believe that growth is reflected in this expanded competition schedule for the 2018 Futsal Canadian Championship,” said Canada Soccer General Secretary Peter Montopoli, in a release. “We look forward to a highly competitive and spirited competition in Kingston, who were excellent hosts of the tournament in 2017.

The 2018 Futsal Canadian Championship will take place in Kingston April 19 to 22. All matches will be streamed LIVE via CanadaSoccer.com with the final game set for Sunday, April 22 at 2:30pm ET.

This will be the second year in a row that Queen’s has hosted the annual competition.
