St. George’s Cathedral Announces Christmas Concerts and Carols

St. George’s Cathedral welcomes the public to attend its Advent Concerts each Thursday between December 1st and the 15th. Admission is free, with a voluntary offering collected.

Between 12:15 pm to 12:50 pm on December 1, there will be a performance by the Cygnus Trio with Erica Jacobs-Perkins (violin), Benjamin Stuchbery (flute), Jonathan
Stuchbery (guitar).

The Cygnus Trio are described as both soothing and challenging its audiences with works ranging from Shakespeare’s time to recent compositions.

On Thursday, December 8 the Advent Concerts continue with St. George’s Cathedral Advent Concerts continue on Thursday with a performance by Organist Michael Capon – music by Bach, De Grigny, and Arvo Pärt – between 12:15 pm and 12:50 pm.

The series concludes on Thursday, December 15 when with a performance by piano duo Valery Lloyd-Watts & Clare Gordon – music by Brahms, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Bizet – from 12:15 pm to 12:50 pm.

Christmas Lessons and Carols

A Service of Christmas Lessons and Carols will take place at the cathedral on Sunday December 18 at 5 pm.

In addition to leading the congregation in singing favourite Christmas carols, the Cathedral Christmas Choir, Teen Choir, and Children’s Choir will sing a selection of Christmas anthems by Mark Sirett, Natalie Sleeth, Timothy Corlis, Hector Berlioz, William Mathias, and others.

St. George’s Cathedral is located at 270 King Street East, at Johnson Street, in Kingston. 

Join them in celebrating the Christmas season with the mid-day musical interludes and Christmas carols.
