The 2015 season of “Movies in the Square” is set to begin Thursday, June 18 based on a lineup of films voting for by Kingston residents.
The weekly event will turn Springer Market Square into a free outdoor movie theatre every Thursday night until September 3rd, when there will be a double feature showing of “Back to the Future” and “Back to the Future Part II”.
Screenings begin at dusk – about 9:00 pm for the June and July showings and closer to 8:30 pm for the features in August.
In the event of rain, a new date will be announced through local media and Downtown Kingston’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The city encourages movie-goers to come early and bring a low-back lawn chair so everyone can get a clear view of the screen. Admittance is free and refreshments are expected to be be available for sale.
As in previous years, the films will be projected onto an inflatable screen parallel to Market Street in the Square – which was itself a movie set last year for the soon to be released Guillermo del Toro’s film “Crimson Peak“ .
