Plenty of Activities to Enjoy on Family Day in Kingston

Ice skating

Kingston is offering up plenty for kids and families to do while enjoying Family Day together tomorrow – Monday, February 17.

Both the Artillery Park Aquatic Centre and the INVISTA Centre will be open for swimming, skating and more while the Tett Centre has interactive art experiences for all ages and nearby Little Cataraqui Creek is available for outdoor winter fun and adventure.

Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area will have activities between 9am and 4pm for families looking to enjoy a snowshoe trek, cross-country ski on groomed ski trails – with equipment rentals available – or to feed the chickadees. The Outdoor Centre will be open for a cup of hot chocolate, coffee or snack and to join in on the rock painting activity. At 2:00pm, everyone will be invited to gather around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and make S’mores.

The conservation area is just north of Kingston at 1641 Perth Rd (outer Division Street).

Artillery Park Aquatic Centre at 308 Bagot Street will be open on Family Day from 10am to 7:30 pm with the following activities to enjoy:

In the pool

  • 10:30 – 11:25 a.m. – Parent & Tot Swim
  • 10:30 – 11:25 a.m. – Family Aqua Fit
  • 11:30 a.m. – 1:25 p.m. – Lane (Vicki Keith Pool) & Family Swim (Leisure Pool)
  • 1:30 – 3:25 p.m. – $2 Leisure Swim (both pools)
  • 3:30 – 4:25 p.m. – Parent & Tot Swim
  • 3:30 – 4:25 p.m. – Swim Sports
  • 4:30 – 5:55 p.m. – Lane (Vicki Keith Pool) & Family Swim (Leisure Pool)
  • 6 – 7:25 p.m. – Leisure Swim (Leisure pool)
  • 6:30 – 7:25 p.m. – Family Aqua Fit

In the gym/fitness rooms

  • 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Family Open Gym
  • 12:15 – 1 p.m. – Family Quick Fit 4 Lunch
  • 1:15 – 2:50 p.m. – Family Badminton
  • 3 – 5 p.m. – Family Open Gym
  • 5:15 – 6 p.m. – Family Fitness @ 5
  • 6 – 7:25 p.m. – $2 Family Open Gym

The INVISTA Centre at 1350 Gardiners Road is open between 6am and 6pm on Family Day for these activities:

At the rink

  • 8:30 – 10:20 a.m. – Senior/ Adult Skating
  • 9 -10:20 a.m. – Parent & Tot Stick & Puck
  • 10:30 – 11:50 a.m. – Parent & Tot Skating
  • 1:30 – 2:50 p.m. FREE Public Skate sponsored by Kingston Transit

In the fitness studio

  • 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. – Family Cardio Tone

The Tett Centre has its Family Day hours from 10am to 2pm and is offering up the the chance to enjoy a variety of family-friendly, hands-on, interactive art experiences for all ages.

Activities include Ceramic Mosaics with the Kingston Potters’ Guild, Gary Rasberry concerts in the Malting Tower, face painting, Twisted Balloons by Julie, Kids Creativity Club craft station, Wire Wrapped Gemstones workshop, button making, Textiles with the Kingston Handloom Weavers & Spinners, Creativity Studio Artists Exhibition in the Tett Gallery, and more.
