The City of Kingston reports security upgrades to be implemented on a number of websites may require some visitors to upgrade their browsers to view those sites after March 5.
“Security is a high priority for the City and Utilities Kingston. As part of our cyber security best practices, all electronic communications between our customers and our websites are to be encrypted using the TLS v1.2 protocol,” Bob Schaefer, manager, technology infrastructure services for the City said in a release.
A notice of this approaching upgrade has appeared on the sites since August 2017, when being accessed by web browsers that are over three years old.
After March 5, anyone experiencing problems viewing the domains due to an older browser version can either upgrade their browsers or use another device to access the sites.
