Voters Take Advantage of Weekend’s Advance Poll

A total of 3421 Kingstonians cast their votes at Saturday’s advance polls. Seventy-eight per cent of those voting for their Mayoral, Council and School Board representatives chose to do so via Accu-vote tabulator while 22 per cent used the electronic Touch Screen voting machines to cast their votes.

“We are glad to see citizens making good use of the advance polls. Having these advance voting days and offering different polling locations is meant to make it more convenient to vote and should help cut down on line-ups next Monday,” says John Bolognone, Assistant Returning Officer.

A second advance voting day is set for this Wednesday, Oct. 20 and the final election day is Monday, Oct. 25. The advance voting days offers the voter the opportunity to use the electronic touch screen voting machines, which are designed to provide improved accessibility for those with visual impairments.

Accu-vote tabulators for paper ballots will be available on all voting days. Electors can use the poll-finder tool at www.cityofkingston.ca/election to find out where they can cast their votes between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on these days.
