TalentEgg Helping Graduates Transition into the Workforce

In 2007, Queen’s University alumna Lauren Friese (Artsci’05) established TalentEgg.ca, an online career resource that is now the number one career website for Generation Y students in Canada. In addition to supporting new graduates in their search for employment or career training opportunities, TalentEgg.ca has a weekly Metro newspaper column called ‘Student Voice’ where students and recent graduates share their stories and top tips about the journey to find meaningful summer, internship and entry-level employment in Canada.

“When I was finishing the final year of my economics degree, I didn’t know what I wanted to do or where I was going to be in six months—an experience I found very alarming,” says Ms Friese. “As a life-long student up until this point, I’d assumed that the school-to-work transition was a well-beaten path with all of the services and conveniences you’d expect.”

During a year in the UK studying for her Master’s in economic history, Ms Friese discovered that the school-to-work transition in the UK was a much smoother process than in Canada. When she moved back to Canada it was with a mission to improve the school-to-work transition for Canada post-secondary students and recent graduates

Ms Friese is bringing her expertise to campus on January 24 as part of the 2012 Alumni Speaker Series hosted by the Queen’s Student Alumni Association in partnership with the Alma Mater Society. For more information and to register for this presentation, visit the Alumni Relations Events Calendar.
