Kingston Police released the following report earlier today.

A 28-year-old local man sexually assaulted a young woman in his vehicle after claiming to be her driver from a car-sharing service.

On February 11, 2017 in the late evening hours the victim was in the downtown district with friends at a bar. The victim had a friend call for a car-sharing service to take her home.

The victim later approached vehicles outside of the bar looking for her driver. The accused claimed he was her driver and the victim got into his car. The accused began driving the victim to an address she provided.

While on route the accused sexually assaulted the victim.

The accused stopped at the address given and the victim exited the vehicle. The victim realized no one was home at the address and when she came back outside, she observed the accused parked across the street watching her.

The woman began walking down the street and the accused followed offering her a free ride. The victim refused and the accused continued to follow until she walked up a driveway.

On February 12, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m. the accused was arrested after police were able to identify him. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with sexual assault.
