You can now use the HonkMobile app to find and pay for parking at a number of downtown City of Kingston lots.

“I’m thrilled to see the City parking app launch this week. Being able to pay for parking with your phone will make life simple and more convenient for Kingstonians and those visiting the downtown,” says Mayor Bryan Paterson. “These are the type of innovations that move our community forward and contribute to our vision of Kingston as a smart, livable, 21st century city!”

HonkMobile can now be used to park in these lots (app features a map with these locations marked):

Barrack, Drury, Frontenac, Angrove, Springer Memorial, McKee Memorial, Armstrong Memorial, King/Queen, Ontario/Brock and Upper & Lower Robert Bruce.

Pay and Display meters that accept cash and credit cards will remain available.

“Honk lets you pay for parking from the comfort of your vehicle when you arrive in the lot. You can also use it to add more parking time if you need it from wherever you may be,” says Ian Semple, manager, service development.

To start using the HonkMobile app to search, pay for and top up parking from a phone, tablet or computer:

1. Download the HonkMobile app from HonkMobile.com or your app store.
2. Set up your account. You may add as many vehicles and as many payment sources to an account as you would like. HonkMobiles accepts PayPal, VISA, debit, ApplePay and Masterpass digital wallet. HonkMobile also allows you to view all your parking receipts.
3. The first time you use HonkMobile, enter the promo code “Kingston” to get a special offer from Honk.

NO PAPER PROOF OF PAYMENT NEEDED

“Honk is very excited to partner with Kingston to improve the parking experience for residents and visitors to the city,” said Honk Founder and CEO Michael Back. “It’s really a win-win for the municipality and its motorists. The ease and convenience of the app saves motorists the time of standing in front of a parking meter waiting for the session to process, giving them more time to enjoy all that Kingston has to offer.”

When you pay for parking with HonkMobile, parking services enforcement officers will see a real-time list of licence plates that have paid parking – so you don’t have to worry about displaying a paper receipt. The app sends a text notification 15 minutes before your parking session is about to expire – allowing users to extend their session without having to rush back to feed the meter.

Fifteen communities across Canada are using Honk as an additional way to pay for parking.
