RELEASE — The PumpHouse Museum’s newest exhibit, Ontario Street: Brewers, Bakers & Boilermakers, 1830 to 1970, opens on April 6 and marks the beginning of the museum’s season at 23 Ontario St.
Ontario Street: Brewers, Bakers and Boilermakers is the history of Ontario Street as a microcosm of the city of Kingston explored through a series of impressive individuals, families and properties located along Ontario Street, many of whom helped to form the identity of the city today.

What’s Happening This Season
- Trains & Tots – Join us every Tuesday from May 28 to Aug. 27 for a Tot inspired, learning experience. Sessions run at 10 a.m. Each week we engage our eyes, ears, and hands in developmentally appropriate activities designed to stimulate and support child development in the early years. Each week there is a different theme that will keep your tot entertained and learning! Entry is included with museum admission.
- Fort Night – Have you ever wanted to relive your youth? Come to the museum at 6 p.m. every Thursday for Fort Night from June 27 to Aug. 29! Each week, we give you a challenge and a building kit. It’s up to you to build your best fort! Admission is by donation.
- Late Nights at the PumpHouse – The museum stays open late every Thursday starting June 27 to Aug. 29. Come in and experience everything that the museum has to offer from 5 – 8 p.m. Admission for late nights is by donation.
- Special events at the PumpHouse – throughout the season the PumpHouse will host special events and programming related to the Ontario Street Exhibition. Curator led tours, special lectures, and adult and family events are all on offer. Details for these events will be made available through the PumpHouse website.
The museum is open April 6 to Nov. 23. April 6 to April 30 we run on spring hours: Thursday & Friday from noon until 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; May 1 through to September 1: Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and fall hours run from September 6 until November 23: Thursday & Friday from noon until 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The PumpHouse is located at 23 Ontario St. in Kingston.
