On August 8, the City of Kingston received the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the Ministry of Housing’s Notice of Decision on the five-year Official Plan Update (OP Amendment No. 50).

The Ministry approved the update to the Official Plan subject to minor modifications.

“The modifications refine sections of the update to provide broader permissions for second units and more specifically define group homes.

The Ministry has also approved of a new Schedule to the OP which recognizes areas of known and potential servicing constraint,” says Greg Newman, manager of policy planning.

Receiving the notice initiates a 20-day appeal period. Any appeal of this decision to the Ontario Municipal Board must be filed with the Minister of Municipal Affairs by Monday, Aug. 28.
