New Empire Design Build Expanding into City’s East End

The Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) is pleased to announce that New Empire Design Build Contractors Ltd. are expanding their developments in the City’s east end.

New Empire Contractors have purchased nine acres on Innovation Drive within the St. Lawrence Business Park with the intention to develop the lots with a 104,000 square foot professional office/industrial condominium project which will see units being offered for sale and lease.  Construction will begin immediately, with occupancy slated for mid-2011.

New Empire Design Build’s first involvement in Kingston was the construction of the $23-million, 215,000 square foot building in 2005 for Lyreco Canada Inc.  Frank Casamatta and Dominic Tersigni, owners of New Empire Contractors then decided to develop The Empire Centre in the St. Lawrence Business Park entirely on spec in 2008.  The Empire Centre, a 124,000 square foot professional building, is currently 100 per cent leased.

This success prompted New Empire Contractors to consider further developments and led to the purchase of lots within both the St. Lawrence and Cataraqui Estates Business Parks.

Jeff Garrah, Chief Executive Officer for KEDCO says, “It has been great to work with New Empire over the past four years.  They have a strong vision for future developments which augment the City’s available property inventory and also create employment opportunities within the City as new businesses relocate.”
