Kingston Police Introduce Online Crime Reporting

Published on: 2011/08/23 - in Featured Releases

The Kingston Police has a new online police reporting option for the public.  This web based reporting system will allow the public to file certain incident types where there is no known suspect (for example minor theft, vandalism, damage to vehicle, lost property, etc.) over the internet at their convenience.

For emergency situations the public should still call 9-1-1 and for non-emergency matters and reports the public can still call 613-549-4660.

This new service will allow the public to file a non-urgent report at a time that is best for them without having to attend Kingston Police Headquarters or make a phone call.  The public will be able to print a temporary copy of the report upon submitting the report.

The report will be reviewed by police personnel and once approved the filing person will receive an email with a copy of the report attached and corresponding reference number.  The report will transfer into the Kingston Police records management system and receive the same investigation and statistical analysis ability as if the report had been filed by police personnel.

This web based reporting option will allow officers more time to address community needs while keeping pace with the public expectancy to access services via the internet.

The web based crime reporting service is available at www.kpf.ca/start-report.html.
