Culture Days 2011 celebration in KIngstonArtists, organizations and community groups in Kingston are holding free, interactive arts and culture events from September 30 to October 2 as part of Culture Days 2011.

Launched in 2010, Culture Days is a collaborative Canada-wide volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

Kingston is one of more than 800 communities across the country participating, and with events happening all over the city, there’s something happening in almost every neighbourhood.

This year, events include a samba dance party with live drums, hosted by the Kingston School of Dance with Samba Maracuja, the Scarecrow Festival, open rehearsals of the Kingston Symphony and Queen’s Musical Theatre, and the chance to help an artist construct an elaborate labyrinth in a city park.

Participating arts and community groups include the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, Kingston Community Health Centres, Pathways for Education, the Kingston Arts Council, Modern Fuel and many more.
