Kingston Canada Day Celebration Events Announced

Kingston’s Canada Day celebrations are scheduled for Confederation Park and Grass Creek Park.  These events include:

Red & White People Parade: Anyone wearing Canadian red and white is
welcome to join this parade which departs from the Metro parking lot (at
Barrie and Princess Streets) at 11:30 a.m. and runs down Princess Street
toward City Hall.

Confederation Park
Registration for the Limestone Mile races begins at 7:45 a.m. with races
starting at 9 a.m.

At 12 p.m. on the steps of City Hall Mayor Mark Gerretsen will preside
over a civic ceremony to mark Canada Day and will congratulate the
winner of the First Capital Distinguished Citizen Award – Brigitte
McConnell – and the Mayor’s Award for Youth Volunteerism winners David
Covey and Joshua Ryan Edwards.

At 1 p.m. head over to Crawford Warf (at the foot of Brock Street) for
the Mayor’s Sailpast. Watch as watercraft from the area sail by the dock
with both vessel and crew dressed up in their Canada Day finest.

Fireworks start at 10 p.m. Confederation Basin will offer the best view
of the show.

Grass Creek Park: 2991 Highway 2 East, 16 km from Fort Henry

Grass Creek Park is offering pony rides, wagon rides, face-painting,
crafts, mini-golf and lots of other fun for kids until about 6 p.m.
Bring a swimsuit and try out the sandy beach or compete in the sand
castle competition.

Bring a lawn chair and a sunhat to enjoy Grass Creek Park’s
family-oriented entertainment which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and
features: celebrated children’s entertainers Splash n’Boots, The Purple
Dragon Puppets, Me and My Gang, the Tom Savage Trio, the Doo Wops, Rock
Bottom and Roger James.

At 5:30 p.m. the festivities end with a Canada Day Ceremony – and the
cutting of the cake.

Located at the entrance to Grass Creek Park, the MacLachlan Woodworking
Museum is offering free admission and will feature performances of The
Skittish Play by the Barefoot Players on Canada Day. Show times are at 1
p.m. and 2:30 p.m. You can also enjoy making crafts in the Log House
