Business Development

KEDCO is pleased to be working with Queen’s School of Business students on the upcoming business conference, Experience India. The one day forum will take place on August 7 from 8am – 5pm in Goodes Hall, 143 Union Street.

With India rising steadily in economic strength, the country’s impact on the future global business landscape will discussed and the conference will provide a comprehensive outlook focusing on key aspects of doing business in India. Guest speakers and panelists will include practitioners from several companies located in Canada and in India, as well as key leaders from the political world. The Entrepreneurship Centre at KEDCO is offering a new course that will help guide Kingston business owners through the world of Facebook. Facebook Fan Pages for Beginners will teach business owners how to create a Fan Page for their business, develop their information, create an event, and upload photographs. The session will take place on August 26 from 11:45am – 1pm at Innovation Park, 945 Princess Street. There is no charge for the seminar, but pre-registration is required.

Tourism Kingston

Rob Carnegie, Director of Tourism Marketing & Development was in Brockville on July 12 for a Regional Tourism Organization (RTO) Transitional meeting. The monthly meetings allow RTO District 9 representatives the opportunity to discuss the transition process and review regional opportunities going forward.

Tourism Kingston is proud once again to support the annual Kingston Sheep Dog Trials, taking place August 6 – 8 at Grass Creek Park. Tourism Kingston provides sponsorship and promotional support for this premier summer festival.

Family Physician Recruitment & Retention

Teri Jones, Family Physician Recruitment & Retention Project Manager has recruited two family physicians as part of the City of Kingston Family Physician Recruitment Support Program. Dr. Justyna Nowak and Dr. Jennifer Hacking have partnered to establish a new Family Health Organization, the Greenwood Medical Centre, located in the St. Lawrence Business Park at 496 Discovery Avenue, Unit 10.

The clinic will accommodate Dr. Hacking, Dr. Nowak plus two additional physicians and is scheduled to open in early October. Dr. Nowak and Dr. Hacking are currently in conversations with several interested new family physicians who wish to join the practice, and once operational, the team will roster approximately 5,000 new patients.
