Knorr Brake Ltd., part of the German based Knorr-Bremse Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles, has received support through the provincial Eastern Ontario Development Fund for expansion of their Kingston facility and the creation of 18 new jobs.

The Eastern Ontario Development Fund is targeted to businesses and supports projects that create and retain jobs, encourages the introduction of new technologies, pursues growth in new markets and contributes to the diversification of the economy of Eastern Ontario.

On May 1, KEDCO and the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME) of Public Works and Government Services Canada presented a “Doing Business with the Government of Canada” workshop.

Topics included the fundamentals of selling goods and services to the Government of Canada; what you need to do to become a supplier; and, marketing your product or service.

Registration is still open for the 2012 Town Gown Association of Ontario (TGAO) Symposium taking place May 13 – 15 at the Four Points Sheraton in Kingston.

Peers from across the province will gather to share best practices and learn how to improve town-gown relationships and projects in the community. The 2012 TGOA Symposium is proudly hosted by the City of Kingston, Kingston Economic Development Corporation, Queen’s University, St. Lawrence College and the Royal Military College of Canada. Tourism Kingston
Jeff Garrah, CEO and Rob Carnegie, Director of Tourism Marketing and Development will be in Toronto on May 7 for Tourism Day at Queen’s Park.

Tourism Day at Queen’s Park was designed to provide Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO’s) the opportunity to communicate the economic benefits of visitation and what’s being done across the province from a marketing aspect to attract visitors.

Connie Markle, Manager of Conference and Travel Trade will be in Edmonton, Alberta from May 13-16 to attend the 2012 Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) Marketplace.

Over 1,500 tourism professionals attend RVC Canada, which is led by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) to connect with international buyers and Canadian sellers of tourism products and services.
