HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENT PROGRESS & ACTIVITIES

Business Development

Lindsay MacDonald, Program Coordinator with The Entrepreneurship Centre at KEDCO attended the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade meeting for regional enterprise centres in Belleville on February 22-23.

The regional meetings offer the opportunity for Small Business Centres to share best practices and learn more about new funding opportunities and resources available from the provincial government for business start-up and growth.

KEDCO is working with local employers to promote available summer job opportunities to local post-secondary students.  The Summer in Kingston campaign will launch the first week of March and target Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College students to raise awareness of the hundreds of summer jobs available in municipal government, tourism and various industry sectors.

John Paul Shearer, Director of Business Development and Elizabeth Allen, Project Manager – Labour Market Development will be participating in the Queen’s School of Medicine Information Fair and Admissions Event on March 5 & 6 and March 26 & 27.  The weekend events provide an opportunity to establish a community relationship with incoming medical students and highlight future practice opportunities for both family physicians and specialized care in the community.

Tourism Kingston
