HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENT PROGRESS & ACTIVITIES
John-Paul Shearer, Director of Business Development was in Toronto on December 19 to meet with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) and discuss direct foreign investment from a major manufacturer and the opportunity to export their product into the United Kingdom and European countries. DFAIT manages Canada’s diplomatic and consular relations and works to encourage the country’s international trade.
The Entrepreneurship Centre at KEDCO has joined forces with local company Viva Productions to present a workshop on Why Video is Crucial To Business Success in Today’s New & Social Media Market. The workshop will take place on January 18 at provide small business owners with insight into what’s involved in creating video for a business, cost examples, as well as a the many different types and ways that video can be used to help increase success. The Entrepreneurship Centre at KEDCO hosted a Christmas Bazaar on Friday, December 16 which featured fourteen local artisans who were on site selling their unique creations. The Entrepreneurship Centre raised $180 in cash donations and a significant food contribution for the Partners in Mission Food Bank from donations accepted during this event.

The Visitor Information Centre at 209 Ontario Street will be open during the holiday season with holiday hours as follows: December 24, 10am – 1pm; December 25 & 26 – closed; December 27 to 30: 10am – 1pm; December 31, 10am – 1pm; January 1 – closed. Regular winter operating hours of 10am – 4pm will resume on January 2, 2012.
The KEDCO offices will be closed from 5:00 pm on Friday, December 23 through to the New Year. Offices at 945 Princess Street will reopen at 8:30am on Tuesday, January 3. Senior staff will be regularly monitoring email and telephone enquiries throughout this period.
