Tourism Kingston is pleased to announce that Kingston’s new online reservation system is fully operational. The system, which is powered by Meridian Reservations Systems, features a variety of tourism businesses and enables seamless cross-sector partnering and packaging of accommodations with other tourism products and services. The reservation system can be accessed through the official tourism website: tourism.kingstoncanada.com or bookkingston.ca.

Tourism Kingston’s 18th Annual Tourism Trivia Night will be held on Thursday, May 26. The event will start at 7pm with a 1000 Island Trivia Cruise. This fun filled social networking event is organized to help strengthen relationships and share Kingston information with front line staff, partners, and attractions in the tourism industry.

Following the cruise, teams will meet at Zappas Lounge to continue the evening of games, entertainment and networking. Tourism Trivia Night is part of Tourism Awareness Week which celebrates the tourism industry in Kingston and sees the seasonal opening of numerous attractions such as Fort Henry National Historic Site.

Final testing of a new mobile application highlighting tourism partners is underway. The Kingston “app” provides information pertaining to traveling to and around Kingston, as well as an extensive database of tourism partners cataloged by “stay”, “dine” or “experience” categories.

Specific features available on the app include an event calendar and “search nearby” function which enables visitors to use the GPS technology of their devices to search for Kingston experiences within a geographic area in real-time. The mobile web applications, which are available for Blackberry through Blackberry App World and for iTouch, iPhone, and iPad devices through iTunes, will be launched on April 28.
