The Entrepreneur Centre at KEDCO is pleased to announce that Shuttle Kingston, a shuttle business operating between Kingston and Syracuse, New York, is now open for business.

Shuttle Kingston provides door to door pick up in the Kingston area and will take passengers to and from the Syracuse Airport with on demand and pre-scheduled services. The Entrepreneur Centre worked with owners Dino Ranchod and Alex Ranchod in the early stages of planning their business idea in preparation for opening.

Jan Dines, Business Development Officer, attended the Creative Economy Summit in Toronto on March 26-27. The Creative Economy Summit focused on best practices, case studies and innovative strategies that drive economic growth, increase job growth, boost tax revenue and attract new investments. Desired outcomes from the conference were new strategy development around attraction of people to Kingston; developing Kingston’s profile as a centre for innovation; and, the further development of sector clusters within our community.

Tourism Kingston

Tourism Kingston is proud to sponsor the 16th Annual Kids for Kids Hockey Tournament taking place March 28-30, 2013. This annual tournament brings over 180 hockey teams to Kingston from across the province and raises funds in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston and Area and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kingston General Hospital.  Tourism Kingston will present the William (Bill) Hackett Skills Competition at the INVISTA Centre on Friday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m.  Kids for Kids generates an estimated $1.5M in economic activity in Kingston each year and continues to be a key sport tourism event in the city.

On April 1, Rob Carnegie, Director of Tourism Marketing and Development will take part in a Resolution Advisory Group meeting held by the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce. The meeting, which will be attended by local business leaders, will discuss and provide input on various resolutions on topics such as trade, innovation, sustainability, border issues, education, skills, tourism and regional economic development.

This group’s advice and direction will help the Chamber provide feedback and dialogue when the Chief Policy Analyst from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce heads a delegation to the Kingston Chamber Board of Directors on Wednesday, April 10. Policy resolutions will be the main focus of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting in May of this year.
