KEDCO is pleased to sponsor the upcoming Queen’s University Graduate Students and Alumni Community Networking Events which will take place on Friday, October 4 and Friday, October 18 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at the Grad Club, 162 Barrie Street, as part of the Homecoming 2013 activities. Kingston business leaders are invited to attend the events to network with graduate students and alumni.
On September 27, Carey Bidtnes, Human Resource and Labour Market Specialist and Meagan Morrison, Human Resource Assistant attended a workshop hosted by the 1000 Islands Workforce Development Board on Local Labour Market Information Data Sources.
During the workshop representatives from Statistics Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, and the Federal Government’s Working in Canada Program provided instruction on where and how to access data sets, and data mining tips.
Tourism Kingston will host the Fall 2013 Mix and Mingle on Thursday, October 3 from 4:30pm – 6:00pm at the Fort Henry Discovery Centre, 1 Fort Henry Drive.
Kingston Publications, the chosen publisher for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Official Visitor Guide to Kingston will be at the event to introduce marketing opportunities for Kingston businesses. Following the Mix and Mingle, tourism partners in attendance will be offered a complimentary ticket to tour through Fort Fright, valid only on October 3.

Tourism Kingston is recruiting for the position of Travel Counsellor at the Visitor Information Centre at 209 Ontario Street. Responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience, the Travel Counsellor is the face of Tourism Kingston and KEDCO to visitors to the city. On October 2, KEDCO representatives will travel to Queens Park in Toronto with local businesses for the second annual “Kingston Day” at Queen’s Park.
This event increases the profile of Kingston with Members of the Provincial Parliament through a showcase of local businesses, educational institutions, tourism partners and local food to the 107 MPP’s in the Ontario Legislature.
Representatives from over 15 local businesses and organizations including KEDCO, City of Kingston Council, Utilities Kingston, the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Kingston! BIA will attend.
